The Internet Café Sweepstakes Business, the House Always Wins

Are you ready to invest in a lucrative industry? We recommend opening an internet sweepstakes café. Also called internet café sweepstakes businesses, these specialized internet parlors are thriving across the country as more entrepreneurs embrace what has become one of the fastest growing industries in America. Here’s an introduction to this latest business trend as well as the facts on just how much you can bring in as the new owner of an internet sweepstakes café.

So what exactly is an internet sweepstakes café? An internet sweepstakes café is a place where customers can play web-based sweepstakes games or internet café sweepstakes software; customers can also surf the web, work on documents, and print documents. Most cafes are located in strip malls and shopping centers, right next to beauty salons, liquor stores, and pet shops.

To play the games, customers must purchase internet time or phone cards. Then, awarded “points” can be redeemed for money. Most video sweepstakes machines offer a wide variety of games to choose from, and, according to sweepstakes café consulting firm SweepsCoach, the house always wins.

So how much do these businesses take in? Apparently a lot. According to the Associated Press, the Internet Based Sweepstakes Organization reports revenues in North Carolina at between $500 million and $1 billion annually. And that’s just North Carolina. Another article by the New York Times reports that internet cafes are literally “cash machines” and bring in as much as $100,000 a week. Since the cafes offer an incentive for internet time, customers come in for the incentive.

3 Steps to Buying the Right Computer

There are recognized brands that can offer you a PC or laptop for a decent price but there are also cheaper versions that are assembled. So, how does one know which computer is right for them?

So here are a few steps one can consider in buying the right computer:

Step #1: Ask yourself: What are you going to use the computer for?

Different people use a computer for different reasons. Younger users might use it for social media, gaming and entertainment while older folks might use Microsoft Office, email and so on and so forth. Since the configuration of your computer might vary depending on what you are going to use it for, it would be a good idea to make a list of your needs.

Step #2: Pick a computer that meets your needs now and for the next few years

If all you’re going to do is check email or use MS Office, then there’s no point buying a machine with a graphics card that young gamers need. If you aren’t going to use this feature, then there is no point, now is there?

Usually three types are on offer: value, enthusiast and gaming line computers. The latter is the most expensive and has advanced features.

When you make a list of models that you like, ensure that they are not only durable but the hardware can accommodate software upgrades for at least 5 years or so.

Step #3: Study and compare the features of models that suit your needs

Finally, when you’ve made a list of the models you like, here are certain features that you have to compare to get your money’s worth: memory, speed, hard disk space, video card etc. Once you do this, and find which model gives you the best for the least price, you can go ahead and purchase the computer.

Larger Display for New Apple iPhone, Bigger Screens Ordered from Asian Suppliers

Despite Apple not commenting on this new development, it looks like the new iPhone set to be launched in the fall will have a larger display. Compared to the iPhone 4S with a screen size of about 3.5 inches, the new screens will be at least 4 inches in size diagonally.

Nobuo Kurahashi, an analyst from Mizuho Investors Securities, describes the grip that Apple has on the market, and the impact of this new development, by saying, “The smartphone market has become diverse, but the iPhone still sets the agenda. The iPhone’s strength lies in the overall experience, including its user interface and applications, and the screen’s size wouldn’t be its defining feature.”

However, Apple is now collaborating with Japan’s Sharp Corp. and Japan Display Inc. as well as South Korea’s LG Display Co. to create these larger screens which experts say is in response to the new flagship smartphone with a 4.8 display, produced by its largest competitor, Samsung Electronics.

Even though the iPhone redefined the smartphone market ever since it was unveiled a few years ago, there are numerous smartphones now available in all sizes of which Samsung is Apple’s largest competitor, with both companies accounting for almost half the world’s smartphones.

Apart from their rivalry in the smartphone market, Samsung and Apple has also been in the news for taking opposing stances on various patents and designs but rather singularly are also dependent on each other as well.

Also, Apple does not manufacture its own products but depends on Asian suppliers for components and manufacturing specialists in Taiwan and China to assemble its products.

Twitter To Participate With ‘Do Not Track’, Offers Users Privacy Option

With both Google and Facebook being scrutinized for their privacy policies, Twitter has now provided “Do Not Track” to its user so as to block the possibility of sharing personal information with third party websites – and was announced by Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Chief Technology Officer, Ed Felten, at an internet privacy forum.

The FTC chairman Jon Leibowitz, in supporting this decision, said, “Twitter’s use of ‘Do Not Track’ in its new feature is good news for Twitter users and a meaningful step toward broader adoption of a strong ‘Do Not Track’ system that will give consumers simple, comprehensive control over online tracking. Hopefully other companies will follow suit.”

What this “Do Not Track” service does is block third-party cookies which is used to obtain personal information about the user as well as his or her online activity. For this, all one has to do is enable the “Do Not Track” feature available in Mozilla Firefox. Other browsers like Safari and Internet Explorer also have similar features.

These steps taken by Twitter to protect online privacy comes at a time when the White House and Commerce Department officials are actually working on a set of federal regulations to protect web users’ personal information.

However, Facebook and Google have recently made major changes to their privacy policies leading to a negative reaction from people especially from Web privacy advocates who have expressed their uneasiness about the manner in which Facebook and Google might take advantage of user data to generate profits, with the possible compromise of their users’ privacy.

According to Mozilla Firefox, almost 9 % of its users enable the “Do Not Track” option, and most of these users are from France, the Netherlands and the United States.

Google Makes Changes To Search, Unveils Knowledge Graph

In an effort to make their Search function think more like a human, Google has announced changes, by the introduction of Knowledge Graph that will streamline the search results by categories and from which the user can pick the category related to his search.

Jack Menzel, director of product management at Google, explains the need for this change in approach in saying, “The web pages we [currently] return for the search ‘kings’, they’re all good. You, as a human, associate those words with their real-world meaning but, for a computer, they’re just a random string of characters.”

The search term, ‘kings’, that the user is looking could really be anything right from who monarchs were, to the Sacramento basketball team, the TV show or even the L.A hockey team as well. With this change, the information pertaining to each of these topics that are related to the search term ‘kings’ will be placed in separate boxes.

The user will have to choose the box [category] and find the information that he or she may be looking for. Of course, this makes the user’s task of finding information easier and faster.

This is being done by the use of Knowledge Graph, which has about 3.5 billion facts and the connections between them at its disposal while also containing information that amount to about 500 million objects.

The release of this new search feature by Google will revamp the way people search for information in terms of relevancy, and will be available to American users first and in English after which it will tablet, mobile and desktop searches as well as available to people from other countries in other languages.

3 Ways the IPO will Change Things for Facebook Users

The Facebook IPO set a stock record with more than 460 million shares traded. Obviously this will changes the lives of many who will become billionaires or millionaires with the social media site going public.

But how will affect those who use Facebook, and didn’t necessarily show any interest much less participate in the company going public?

Here are 3 ways by which the IPO will change things for Facebook users:

#1: More Ads

Facebook generates revenue by advertisements. With the company going public, there will definitely be an increase in the number of these ads as investors will put pressure on its management to meet quarterly targets. Of course, to add to this, it’s also expected that considering the IPO valuation that just took place, there will pressure to increase its revenue and net income substantially.

#2: Less User Privacy

Yet again, it all comes back to ad revenue. Google, for example, uses searches to provide users with paid ads that might sell the very product or service that the person is looking for. This happens in real-time too, and is the reason why the company makes about $ 9.52 per user in a month as opposed to $ 1.32 for Facebook. All this might change, as with the increased pressure to generate more revenue, Facebook will have to mine user data that has been largely unexplored until now with a result of less user privacy.

#3: Facebook generated content

Until now, Facebook runs on user-generated content but it is possible that they can generate content of their own and compete with the likes of Groupon, Craigslist and Yelp. The potential is unlimited considering the data that has been largely untouched until now amounting to almost 900 million Facebook pages.
